Going Green is More Than Just a Trend...

...it's a mind-set and a lifestyle, one that results in a deeper connection with the Earth and also, with our communities.    On the Laurel Cove Environmental Page you will find articles, resources, and updates on how we can all do our part to "Think Globally, Act Locally."

A Sustainable Blog

Picture
9/15/10 - Welcome to the website for the Laurel Cove Environmental Committee!  We hope that you find this site useful, and we encourage residents to contribute their own ideas and suggestions as well.  We will be posting pictures, along with instructional how-to's, and doing our best to keep the Green Movement going.
With a change of seaons fast approaching, many people will soon be raking leaves.  Instead of using a leaf-blower, which is a source of both air- and noise-pollution, use a good old-fashioned rake.  It takes longer, but the clean air and peaceful serenity are well worth the time and effort.  Not to mention the fact that rakes do not perpetuate the fossil fuel demand.  Once raked, leaves can be composted, used to mulch flower beds, or bagged for pick-up by the city.  Just make sure the bags are clear plastic, as those are the only kind the city will accept.  If physical limitations prohibit you from doing your own raking, find a motivated teen who would be more than happy to earn a little extra money by helping out a neighbor.
Please consider joining the Environmental Committee, and remember:  It's easy being green!

Please submit questions, comments, suggestions, etc.  We want to hear from you!
